The Wellington School is looking for a high-energy, goal-oriented individual who will be responsible for development and implementation of comprehensive brand and marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both internal and external. Leads the marketing and communications staff and volunteers, establishing and monitoring objectives and priorities, analyzing strategies to consistently improve ROI. As a vital department leader, this person coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with other functions of the school, and consciously works to achieve a symbiotic relationship with Admissions, Development, and Divisions. Brand management, external and internal reputation management, communication of the value of a TWS experience, and development of a robust funnel of prospective families are key areas of delivery for this role.
Lead brand strategy and position the school consistent with the strategic plan
Support the Marketing & Admissions Committee of the Board of Trustees
Manage the Marketing & Communications team
Serve as a member of the head of school’s senior team
Key responsibilities of Marketing & Communications Department
Brand marketing (advertising, admissions, and development materials)
PR (coordinate our media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests, act as the school’s representative with the media, manage crisis communications)
External and internal reputation management (website, blog, social media, videos, magazine, school-wide communications)
Communications (classroom, athletics, and event coverage; bi-weekly newsletter)
Demonstrating the value of TWS experience (All Things Wellington, Enrichment Series)
Manage the school’s digital marketing and communications strategy
Grow awareness of the school and drive qualified inquiries
Key success measures (some shared with other functions of the school)
Qualified inquiries generated for the school
Brand awareness with targeted prospective families
Retention of existing Wellington families
ROI of marketing activities
Collaboration with peer functions in the school
3-5 years relevant work experience required
Excellent communications and organizational skills
Physically able to perform essential functions in a variety of settings including the wider school campus and off campus locales
