The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) was founded in 2000 with one clear objective: accelerating meaningful therapeutic advances and, ultimately, a cure for Parkinson’s disease (PD). The Foundation applies extraordinary scientific, business and media assets to this singular focus—thus creating a unique and dynamic organization. Since inception, MJFF has quickly grown into the largest global funder of Parkinson’s disease research outside the U. S. federal government, having funded over $750 million in research projects in both academic and industry labs worldwide.
We believe that to find a cure for PD as quickly as possible, our capital needs to push research forward today—we therefore deliberately have no endowment. We instead start our fundraising from zero each year and seek to deploy funds raised as quickly and wisely as possible. MJFF raises over $90 million annually. Today, the Foundation has approximately 130 full-time employees who are based in New York City. This is an onsite position and is not conducive to telecommuting.
Position Summary: In order to meet the Foundation’s aggressive and ambitious research and fundraising goals, The Senior Associate Director of Audience Development will play a key role in the Foundation’s efforts to grow audience and revenue by formulating and executing strategies to grow online website traffic and the Foundation’s email list through innovative, cutting-edge partner relationships and marketing channels.
The Senior Associate Director of Audience Development is responsible for developing and implementing data-¬?driven audience segmented growth strategies across all existing platforms and identifying new partnerships and opportunities. The position will be hyper-focused on the Foundation’s audience goals and work with others on the marketing team and cross-functionally to ensure that we are aligned to deliver predictable, scalable growth.
Primary roles and responsibilities: •Work with Marketing, Communications, Web Development, Analytics/CRM and product teams to develop a deep understanding of our core B2C and B2B audience segments, where to find them, and how they behave •Shape how the Foundation frames, packages, and distributes content by optimizing existing distribution channels and identifying new platforms and syndication partners that can be leveraged to drive growth •Forecast growth across paid and organic sources, and recommend appropriately ambitious audience-related targets for quarterly and annual goals •With CRM and analytics, demonstrate value through iterative test and learn strategies, reporting back success metrics, ROI and attribution •Work with a digital agency to develop content and collateral to engage the right audience, for the right ask, on the right platform •Work on third party partnerships to grow the brand and expose it to new audiences •Evangelize the Foundation brand and grow the number of influencers across new and existing social media channels; implement workflow for feedback loop •Monitor and tweak performance of campaigns on paid social, paid search, content publishing networks, third-party websites, and retargeting networks and new sources •With CRM, develop and execute retargeting strategy to retain, upgrade and win-back website visitors, constituents and donors Qualifications •At least 7 years of experience •Familiarity with digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, ComScore, etc) •Hands on knowledge of digital marketing platforms •Entrepreneurial, digitally savvy, creative and experimental in the approach to problem solving, with exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills •Ability to clearly articulate and present initiatives to creative and technical teams alike
